Spruce it up w/ Color (DIY Series Ep.2)

Hey guys! Hope you had a AMAZING weekend, the girls and I enjoyed a pizza date night ending in ice cream and the movie Frozen! Those are the moments that I live for and I enjoy seeing them so happy and excited. :) But anywho this post is all about painting old items to make them new again. I must admit I LOVE a good spray painting of either furniture or decor items. When it comes to painting you have options, my favorite has to be spray paint, because 1) its affordable 2) it gets the job done fast 3) you have endless options in colors and textures that will make your job super easy!

So what do you need to paint?!?!

* Well first you need an item you want to make new again.
* Sandpaper  and primer: you want to sand your item to create a smooth surface for your paint to adhere to. And you want to prime so that your choice of color comes through on your item! (Some paints already have primer in it, personally those are my favorites cause im impatient lol)
* Finally you want your color choice of PAINT

Yep its that simple, so I challenge you to make something old new again with with a fresh coat of PAINT!

This is an example of a item I was able to recreate with a fresh coat of paint!
I absolutely LOVE it!!!

DIY Series!

So I'm getting ready to move into my new apartment next week (Inserts praise dance) lol! To say the least im excited not about the moving part, cause lets be honest who just loves packing their life into boxes. More so the decorating and creating part of moving into a new space. So in good ole Ryan Ashlie fashion, I have started doing DIY (do it yourself) projects to help jumpstart the BIG move. So to broadcast the different projects im working on, including step by step instructions on how you can also recreate the project I will be doing a DIY Series! Yayyyyy!!! Lol

So to kick off the series lets talk Decoupage....

So if you follow me on IG you have probably already seen this table (BTW Follow Me on IG @zyizomommy).

So this is a wooden side table i picked up at a local thrift store for $2. I painted the entire table with a Metallic Gold spray paint. I wanted to create something very different but yet unique to display in my bedroom. My inspiration came from several post on pintrest and youtube. But one particular youtube video by Mr. Kate ( << click to watch video) kept replaying in my head. I pondered on many different ways to create this and i must say I am very satisfied with the outcome and can't wait to display it in my new room! :)

What did i use?
~Mod Podge (which can be purchased at Wal-Mart & any craft store like Michael's or Hobby Lobby)
~ Sponge Brush (also can be purchased ^^^^)
~Magazines
~ Scissors
~Plastic cup
~credit card

Step 1:
Take your magazine and clip out whatever appeals to you and your taste and the look that your are trying to achieve when decoupaging whatever surface you plan to transform

Step 2:
Layout your design how you want it to look so you have a visual of the outcome.

Step 3:
Taking my Mod Podge and pouring some into my plastic cup, you want to use a disposable cup because it wont be fun cleaning glue out of a regular non disposable cup.

Step 4:
Take your sponge brush and dip it into your mod podge, then begin to brush your surface to where you will lay your first clipping. Once you lay your clipping on the mod podge take your credit card to smooth it out and make it flat. Then brush the top of your clipping with a thin layer of mod podge and again take your credit card and very gently smooth out any wrinkles or bubbles.

Step 5:
           Repeat step 4 until finished

Step 6
After you've finished to ensure your clippings don't lift or rip you have a few options to seal:

A. Coat your entire project in a couple of layers of mod podge
B. Spray paint your project with a clear sealant
C. Paint a coat of polycrylic over your project

And that's it, its  pretty simple and easy it just takes time so to make that time go by faster i always pull up one of my favorite shows on Netflix or Hulu+.

So until next time...

FATE

Ok guys here goes another one...this one is umm a lil harsh! lol Guess someone pissed me off..IDK!! But i like it!! :) its titled "FATE"

what a fuckin lame...nigga that's all you got , stop..rewind..and try again..cause boo boo you gotta do better than that. shit you think this shit is a game, tryna win your pussy fame..your reward is my lil friend Hector Irvin Vince...better known as HIV...this shit at surreal it as real as you ever think it could be...think twice about the bitch you buff...cause for that 80% its hard to re-trust..so go fuck up yo life i don't care..go get that 20% to slob all on your knob...like one of those bootleg pussy cat dolls...shit i don't care cause while you in intensive care fighting for your life I'm in my books driving for mine...men come a dime a dozen, and fools come quarter of a pound...so i guess you one of dem quarters, that just was blinded by your dick and couldn't see that 80% right in front of you...so you come running back...but I'm grown and i ain't got no time waist taking care of life that has been wasted...so here it is in your face you should have thought twice and not let your dick decide your fate.

FREE

OMG it has been forever since my last post!! Been totally consumed with school and motherhood! :) And getting all my much needed rest this Spring Break..well any who I found this poem I wrote back in '07 titled "FREE" and thought I would share..Hope you enjoy!! :)

I'm free..I'm free from the bondage he held me in for so long...hoping wishing and dreaming that the love that we once had will be re-birthed and forever are plans will end...reality proving that it cant be done he had let me go, but i, i was still holding on...hoping and wishing reality was unreal and that the love that i had for him will infect his bumping heart...then as the time passed by reality became so real, I'm so unhappy about the way he makes me feel....he doesn't hold me the way i like to be held, he doesn't kiss me the way i liked to be kissed, he doesn't touch me the way i liked to be touched, he doesn't do things that i like to do, how can the plans of forever end this way, this way of an unhappy heart...so i seeked closure..closure on why...why the burning love we once had suddenly died....then reality spoke its to hard to do, then my heart spoke and said yes and i will always love you...you set a standard so high for the next man...and thank you so graciously for loving me for the way that i am..
